Preparing For Reopening After Corona-virus? Here Are Some Things You Need to Know!

Preparing For Reopening After Corona-virus? Here Are Some Things You Need to Know!

As companies in many states and areas across the country start reopening there are a lot of things to consider. You need to make sure that your establishment is safe and functional for everyone involved. That means having cleaning and disinfecting procedures that help create a safe environment for your employee's and patrons. Most states and municipalities that are opening up again will have their own list of requirements that must be met in order for a business to resume operations, so, make sure you check your local and state websites for their requirements!

One step you can take to help protect your business is limiting third parties. If the visit can be done virtually by phone or online meeting, do it!  It is sometimes necessary for sub-contractors and vendors to visit your location but be sure to inform them of any new requirements ahead of time. The best way to do this is to provide all your safety requirements to third parties you expect to have interactions with in writing prior to any visit to location.

Another common business practice is limiting capacity of your location during this time. Certain states and municipalities have capped it at a certain percentage of normal capacity, so, make sure you check! By limiting capacity of your location you help provide the ability to social and physical distance. This has become one of the single biggest steps in reducing the spread of the virus. The recommended distance is 6ft. This 6ft rule goes for employee's and patrons.

Physical and social distancing is very important. There are a couple of different things you can do while trying to accomplish this goal. You can consider putting up physical barriers where possible. Separating workstations to allow 6ft between employee's is a great idea. When 6ft is not possible have staff wear a face covering that will cover their nose and mouths. You should also reduce or eliminate shared workspace. Think about also limiting the number of staff allowed in a break room or office at a single point in time to reduce exposure.

Cleaning and Disinfecting shared spaces should also be a priority. Place hand sanitizer stations and disinfecting wipes in all common areas, such as offices, lobbies, break rooms, etc. It's also a good idea to have your employee's clean and disinfect their work stations in-between customers and at the end of the work day.

Something else you to think about is improving air intake and filtration of the building. You can also use portable air cleaners with HEPA filters to help reduce the exposure. You should consult your HVAC contractor prior to using any disinfectants in your air handling system however.

We know you are ready to get back to work but making sure your employee's and patrons are properly protected should be top priority!

At GSP Insurance we take the health and safety of our employee's and insureds very seriously. to find out what precautions we are taking to help prevent the spread give us a call or send us an email!
